A Holiday with Two Families in the Myrtle Beach

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Enjoying the sunset from your balcony is one of my favorite moments in life. Sunset is almost magical. You cannot not to like it. It is just something happens when that big ball of fire touches the horizon and starts to lose its bright power, making its bright blinding white light fades into soft and warm orange yellow. My most favorite sunset is the one in the beach. That’s why I never missed an opportunity to go to the beach.

This time, the invitation came from my cousin. He loves to play golf and already plan to have a holiday in a Myrtle Beach Resort. Myrtle Beach Resorts are famous for their excellent Myrtle Beach Accommodations and golf courses, and since they are also located near the beach and he knows how I love sunset in the beach, he asked if my family want to join his family for the holiday. I said to him that it was an excellent idea and too good to pass. I cannot play golf but maybe this is the time I start to try and learn. However, I need to check my schedule and my husband’s schedule for that. I promised that I would get back to him as soon as I could with our available dates.

So I started to check my schedule to know that I will be only free next month. Coincidentally, I found the same result with my husband’s availability when I asked him later that day. Once we got the date, me and my cousin started to look for Myrtle Beach Accomodations for us to book. Luckily, we then found this site which offered a 50% price off for a special golf package for our very date. We could not be more excited than this. I cannot wait for the date to come and enjoy my golf and beach sunset there. It must be really fun!

My Relaxing and Inspiring Bath Time

Friday, March 12th, 2010

My bathroom has from time to time become a place to get inspiration in life. I spend a long time in my bathtub, relaxing after a tiring broadway performance. It is during this time, I usually get great ideas and inspirations in life.

Because of this, I was looking for a great bathtub, where I can spend my real quality inspiration finding time. My bathtub have to look really nice and relaxing so I can really enjoy my relaxing time. In the past, I was able to find great ideas for my theatre scripts when in bath time.

I browsed around for walk in tubs and walk in bathtubs. These bathtubs not only need to be nice looking and great, I also have to consider the tubs safety. In the end, I decided to look for a Majestic bath tub and will be going over to the bath tub store next weekend. I am really looking forward to getting a much better and nice looking bath tub compared to my old one now. I believe I’ll be getting more and more quality inspirations in the future.

The Joy of Watching Outdoor Shows

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I have always liked outdoor shows. They are a great alternative to the indoor broadway theatre shows which I am involved in. I take my time to bring my kids to watch these shows every now and then, sometimes away from home and out of state.

This weekend, I am bringing them to see the Houston Rodeo. It is such a great show, watching the culture of the old wild west live. I had asked my husband to search for the tickets, and he managed to get the Houston Rodeo Tickets online.

While doing that he managed to see some other interesting shows and also got Reliant Stadium Tickets and American Idiot Tickets for upcoming  weeks. The upcoming weeks seem to be very interesting and my kids are looking forward to this very exciting Easter.

Buying Broadway Tickets Online

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I had an old friend called yesterday saying that he’s going to come and visit us next week from Boston. I’m excited because even though Boston and New York is not too far, we haven’t met each other for almost four years. I then invited him to see a theater show with my family during his stay here. He was thrilled with the idea and said that actually there was a musical he would like to see, Wicked. Fortunately, I had planned to see Wicked too so I said that we definitely could go together to see that show.

After the phone call, I went to my computer and saw if I could get Wicked tickets for us online. I’ve been buying Broadway tickets online for some time since I found it much easier and practical than going to the theaters’ box offices. I googled the sites this time because I always want to see what sites are available for online tickets instead of the ones I’ve been visiting. Soon I found many links to the sites which sell Broadway Theater Tickets in one Google search. I click on one site I hadn’t visited yet and started to search for Wicked Tickets NYC. Only in 10 minutes later, 3 Wicked tickets on Monday evening were already secured for us. Don’t you love the internet?

After I was done with the Wicked tickets, I started to search for West Side Story tickets. It is one of my favorite musicals of all time together with The Phantom of the Opera, A Chorus Line, and Cats. So every time it is performed in Broadway, I never miss the chance to see it. I bought two West Side Story tickets in Palace Theater for me and my husband for next Wednesday. With my friend’s visit and these two great musicals to see, I can’t wait for next week to come

A Performance Trip to Chicago

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

This weekend, my class has an opportunity to do a short performance in a small orphanage in Chicago. The owner of the orphanage is an old friend of our teacher back when he was in college. To him, a small yet very rare stage performance is a special event that can cheer up the children. On the other hand, we all are very pleased to be given an opportunity for a stage performance and to be able to do a good deed for the children in a way that we can.

Since it is too late to perform any of Christmas story by now, we decided to write a simple play to be performed for the children. The story is about animal society, more or less similar to that in “Horton Hears A Who story, just without the Whoville part. The story was done since last month, and we’ve been practicing to perform it during holiday. Right now, we are all set with the play and just need to prepare our trip there.

Considering the props and the remote location of the orphanage, we chose to travel by cars. There will be 8 of us in total, so we have two cars with 5 persons capacity each ready to take us in our trip, Angela’s Toyota Camry and my Prius.

Since it is a quite long trip there, I and Angela have gathered some necessary information about auto repair shops. We have noted down all the auto shops between New York and Chicago, just incase. Of course, we also noted down some Chicago auto repair shops with that. I have some uncomfortable experiences with check engine light during interstate trips so I will make sure that everything will be going just fine this time.

Now, I already imagine the smiles of the little faces we will see when we get there. No doubt it will be one of my memorable performances in my life.

Enjoying Sport Matches from Home

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Last night I went to one of my classmates’ birthday party, Lisa. It was a small and descent party. She only invited our class members and close family members to the party. However, that does not make the party become less interesting. The party peaked when my friend blew all the 29 candles and said her wishes. After that, we were having fun by doing some games while enjoying the meal which apparently made by the birthday girl on her own.

After two hours, we ran out of games. Some guests already went home and there were only few of us left. Lisa then suggested continuing the party by relaxing in front of TV watching some good programs in Direct TV. Everybody thought that was a good idea. It was a Sunday night, and there was a sport program who we’d all like to watch.

It turned out that my other classmate, Brian, who was watching the match in DirectTV with us that night is a big fan of sports and he always went to the stadium to watch the matches of his favorite teams. He often had to stand in a long queue for a ticket. Sometimes, he had to cancel his plan since the tickets were sold out. By the experience that night, he decided that he would start to subscribe to a Satellite Directv to watch his favorite teams’ matches.

According to him, watching sports from home is not less exciting than watching them directly in the stadium. Moreover, we can get more comfort of our sofa which we usually have to sacrifice when we go to the stadium.

An Escape for Home Entertainment

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

After a tiring week of helping with my neighbor’s moving chore, I don’t feel like going out for theaters this weekend. Yet, I still want to see some musical performances to cope with my longing for the theater lessons after the long holiday. So, I decide to have another Direct TV weekend with my husband and children.

A DirectTV weekend is one of my family traditions. It means that all the members of our family will be ready in front of the entertainment room TV after dinner with lots of snacks from pop corn to ice cream to accompany our Directv time. Since it is weekend, then the children will be allowed to stay until 10 when the first musical has finished.

After that, we the adults will stay until late to continue to watch other programs.

Direct TV has been our escape for quite a while when the weather is too bad to go outside or when we just want to relax at home. It offers all of my favorite programs such as arts, theater, sports, and sometimes documentary of famous persons in history. My children can also take advantage from the education channels like science and documentary programs.

With Direct TV, all I have to prepare to create a relaxing yet entertaining weekend is a string of our favorite snacks and chocolate drink which all of us really love. We also often watch NFL games instead of musicals and live up our weekend by cheering our favorite team to win the match.

My Neighbor’s Moving Week Preparation

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

For several last days I’ve been helping my neighbor packing for moving. She and her family will move to Houston, Texas in a couple days. Her husband had been promoted and soon will manage a brand new office in that city.

Since she has quite a big family, one husband, four children and two cute dogs, there were so many things to manage. She asked my favor to help her with all the moving preparation. Of course I didn’t have to think twice to say yes. We’ve been a close friend and we often visit each other at dinners. Coincidentally, I also had a loose class schedule this week so there’s absolutely there’s no problem for me to come and give extra hand.

Moving, especially when it involves a house with many people, is a daunting task to do. Basically, you need to move every single thing in the house to the new one. You need to consider which things can be packed first and which ones you will still need to the last minutes. You also need to make a list note of things you have packed to avoid the confusion in the future. However, apparently the job has not done yet once you have finished this task.

Yesterday, my friend told me about her problem in keeping her Direct TV subscription. She has been subscribing to Direct Satellite TV for years and very satisfied with its service. Now when she has to move to another state, she wondered if she could just continue her subscription in the new state.

Fortunately, I had just the right experience to answer her question. When my uncle Ben moved from California to Florida several years ago, he also moved his Direct TV subscription. All he needed to do was just contacting the Direct TV in California about his moving. My neighbor was so happy with my explanation, knowing that she had another problem solved so she could focus on the other problems.

Christmas Entertainment for Children

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

The end of the year is near and Christmas is coming to our door soon. Christmas decorations are scattered all around New York City. The excitement of Christmas also affects the stage performance world, mostly the amateur one. It is almost customary for schools in New York to have a Christmas play performed in the Christmas celebration every year, so does with my children’s school. They have been practicing for weeks and now they almost get the whole dialogue in mind. As a performer myself, I cannot be more happy with their project and practice with them whenever I can.

As for myself, I have a project of my own. This year my cousin from Florida will come with his whole family and spend their holiday in my house. With three elementary school children as my guests, I guess I need to prepare something special for them so they won’t to be bored.

My neighbor said that I must provide at least a fair collection of Christmas entertainment for them. Children loves Christmas and they love videos. So last night I started to search for Christmas videos in the Internet. My fear of not finding appropriate Christmas videos for children proved to be unnecessary. Once I clicked the search button in the search engine, I found numerous links to website which provides not only videos but also Christmas pictures and music to download. Some require you to create an account first before you can download the Christmas sharing in the site, but some don’t.

After some time of searching, I decided to create an account in a website which offered cute animated videos which I  thought my nephew and nieces would love. I did not only download videos, but also some pictures and song for myself. Now, with lots of Christmas videos in my computer, I am prepared for my cousin’s visit this holiday.

A Different Kind of Entertainment You Can Find Online

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Back to my house after a satisfying last rehearsal, my neighbor called me to thank for all the help she received when she was preparing her annual office party. Tonight is the final judgment night whether all of the preparation was for nothing or is the party going successful. Her office happens to be near the theater I liked to visit so I offered her for a ride. I’ve been helping her with the casino stuff preparation so one more help seemed to be just fine.

Casino. That is the theme of my neighbor’s party tonight. I was driving her to the party location when she told me about the history of the party theme. It turned out the first person who sprung the idea of casino style for her office party was her colleague who is really into casino games. Casino games? I did not even think that such things exist. She continued her story then. Since not many of us can afford to go to Las Vegas to visit the casino houses or just don’t have enough money to place a real bet or just don’t like the real gambling which involving real money. Casino games is basically just answering their craving for casino type of games.

Of course, this phenomenon also influenced by the popularity of Internet in our days. The casino games can be downloaded online. Some are free, but some will require us to pay some amount of money. Not only that, following the popularity of online games, there are also games that can be played online in online casino websites.

I usually don’t like casino and gambling. But this one seems to be interesting and fun. If it’s only a game without really involving any money on risk or put you in a great debt only in one bet, I think I may give it a try.
