Responding to the Hollywood musical version release of Mamma Mia Broadway musical, we had our class discussing on it yesterday. All of us have definitely seen both the movie and stage musical at least once which had been the strongest reason why it was chosen. One of the themes that was discussed there was the mother and daughter relationship portrayed in the musical. The relationship between those two was so special since Donna is a single mother. The fact that they are both women strengthen the emotional relationship between them.
This mother to daughter bond brings me to review my own relationship with my daughter. When I spent my time thinking of it, my sister came to ask me about the gift she would buy for her daughter’s 16th birthday. My niece is having her 16th birthday party next Saturday at her house and my sister has invited the big family to the celebration. Since 16 is a special age, marking the adulthood of my niece, my sister wants to have a sweet 16 gift for her.
We soon ended up browsing the internet to find what gifts are available online. After a few search, we found quite many gifts offered. They are definitely sweets and unique, the ones that will be a great collection and memorable for the rest of her life. The prices are not so expensive also since a sweet meaningful gift is not necessarily expensive. My sister finally decided to buy a unique frame with sweet and elegant design. She will put a photo of her daughter on one of her most memorable moment to make the gift even more personal and intimate.
After she left, I came back to my thoughts before and decided to find a small gift for my little daughter, the one which is not expensive but will have a deep meaning and she will remember and appreciate even after she grows up. This is how I show her that our relationship is special and will always be.
